@pfefferle @alex Okay so I actually did everything right, Mastodon is just like "nope"
That's a shame.
Any ideas on how I can make it work?

It is so weird though...I can't find my profile when I search for `@alex` at all
@pfefferle Maybe it just got held up in cache. I think when I do @alex it seems to work now, but it ends up changing it to `[email protected]` instead
Maybe @pfefferle
I'm trying to set up a #webfinger alias here:
https://standiford.us/.well-known/webfinger?resource=acct:[email protected]
The intent is to use this site here:
https://www.alexstandiford.com/.well-known/webfinger?resource=acct:[email protected]
Ultimately I'm trying to use [email protected] for my online presence and basically have that be an alias for my [email protected].
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong though - everything seems correct but Mastodon can't locate me at @alex, only @alex
Anyone have any ideas?
@talksina thanks. I remember that plugin being discussed a few years back too. Just wondering if it actually got and maintained traction.
@pfefferle @cdevroe oh cool. How experimental is this? Is it in a state where I can try it out/report issues? Or is it something you’re in the midst of building/figuring out?
@cdevroe @pfefferle yes me too! My site has fully migrated all of my historical content on X and I’m working on importing Instagram. Been publishing micro content through it for years now, just haven’t actually installed ActivityPub to start using it.
Wondering how effective it would be to use this account as a proxy, boosting content from my original site exclusively, and interacting with my feed with this account. Not ideal but still progress, I think.
So I have some questions about the state of the #fediverse on #WordPress.
Is it possible to migrate this account’s followers/following to my WordPress site (assuming I’m using it as an #activityPub source)
Is it possible to actually follow people and get some kind of feed, interacting with that account with other users?
I think the answer is still solidly “no” to both of those, but it would be good to get some context on how people are dealing with this today.
@evan I don’t wanna
@evan I literally can’t think of a reason for this to be a “no”
