We've got an issue in our forum since updating to the latest version of NodeBB. We're sorting our updates from new to old. With that setting, it doesn't seem to update anymore which post was last read by a user. So if you open a topic, it keeps on jumping to the same, old post - even though you've already read the latest one.

It works fine if I chance the sorting of posts to 'old to new'. Can anyone confirm that as a general bug? I'll report it on GitHub in that case.

I just realized what the problem was. As soon as I hit "RE-INDEX TOPICS" in the settings, there weren't any disappearing topics anymore. So I guess the index wasn't complete.

How often is the index running automatically? Should I do this manually on a regular basis?

Alphabetical topic sorting would be super helpful for us, but unfortunately the plugin is unusable with this issue. It would be nice to know, if I can expect something happening here.

thanks for your quick reply. It's really helpful for me to know that it is like that. And I completely understand why it was implemented. It seems I must have read some info wrong or it must have been old.

But that's actually quite a major issue for us and they way we're using NodeBB. It would be great if notification deletion could be made configurable. How are the chances of that beeing implemented? I don't know how much of an issue that is for other users of NodeBB.

Though I still need a short term solution for that. I need a way for a user to find all of his mentions when he hasn't been looged on for more than 7 days (but usually not more than a couple of weeks). Utilizing search won't really work, because it's not just about personal mentions, but also all of the groups the user is in. So that way would be rather inconvenient. The only possibility for me right now seems to be using email notifications. But maybe you've got another idea.

we've got an issue with our older, but still unread notifications. They are disappearing after 7 days without being read. I know that read notifications are supposed to disappear after that time. But I guess it's not supposed to happen for unread ones.

I've got one user who's got 50+ notifications after being on holiday for little over a week. I've been checking on his notifications and one after another they disappeared after turning older than 7 days. One time checking I saw two notifications that read "8 days ago". But now those are gone as well and the oldest ones all read "7 days ago".

Is this a known issue? And is there any way to retrieve those notifications? We're currently running NodeBB v1.11.1, I haven't gotten around upgrading to v1.11.2 yet.

Is there any possibility to add a link to the "Watched Page" (https://community.nodebb.org/user/AlexG/watched) to the main navigation? I know you can put custom links there, but of course that one's different for each user depending on the username.

I've got two questions concerning notifications.

Is it possible to display more notifications in the "notification window"? This seems to be limited to 15? I know that I can see all on the /notifications page but it would be easier to just see more in the notification window.

Is there any possibility to display the category of the topics in the notification (either notification window or notification page)? Or should I put a topic for that in feature requests?

When someone in my forum edits a post and adds a mention while editing, the mentioned user doesn't get a notification. I hope it's clear what I mean.

Is that a bug or could it be a different issue?

I just did another test. It's definitely the "category-sort-by-title" plugin that lets topics disappear.

The "category-sort-by-title" is the only one I added manually. I just wanted to try if it might have anything to do with that. But I'm not able to produce the problem right now (also with the plugin active).
I just did a rebuild because of another issue, maybe that helped. So I guess it's fixed for now.

we started using NodeBB just recently and I stumbled upon a problem.

When I edit the first post of a topic (just the message, not the topic title) it's not displaying in the category anymore. I can still see it in recent topics but not in the category it's supposed to be in. Logged in as another user I could still see it in the category.

I can make it display again, if I click on edit a second time and save it without changes. I should also add that I'm in the Administrators group. Another user also in the group has the same issues. And a different one not in there doesn't have the problem. But it still occured for me after I left the group.

Has anybody else got that problem? Should I post that as a bug on github?

We're running NodeBB 1.10.1 and MongoDB 4.0.1.
