We've actually released two features today that I'm really excited about. As for fediverse accounts underneath link previews, for now this feature requires manual review from our side so that we can avoid the risk of malicious sites framing users as their authors, but we intend to build out a self-serve system to manage which sites you can be featured from very soon.

We've actually released two features today that I'm really excited about. This profile preview features the first two lines of the user's bio and the first two fields (commonly used for information like pronouns or verified links) which should hopefully make people more informed about who they talk to before they do so (similar idea as the reply prompts we launched a while back on Android).

One is, as you may already know, displaying the author's fediverse account underneath link previews. But the other is showing a profile preview when you hover a user anywhere in the web app, with a quick follow shortcut.

We think this can shake up social media@Haste We're investigating this.

One of the strengths of Mastodon is our API that allows 3rd party developers to create powerful integrations and full-featured apps on entirely equal footing with our own, with absolute confidence that there will never be a rug-pull. I've decided to check how the diversity of tools looked like in practice.

I'd never considered migrating to another instance (on account of being lazy, and secondarily worrying that nobody would have me), but there's some really irritating shit going on over here at dot social@healyn What is it?

I've been obsessively watching through the in person #BloodOnTheClocktower games on the #NoRollsBarred channel, it's so much fun.I've been obsessively watching through the in person #BloodOnTheClocktower games on the #NoRollsBarred channel, it's so much fun.

Maven, a new social network backed by OpenAI's Sam Altman, found itself in a controversy today when it imported a huge amount of posts and profiles from the #Fediverse, and then ran AI analysi...@hello We believe the "DM" in question was actually posted by the author as public before deleting and re-sending as a private mention. There is no mechanism by which private mentions could be exposed to third party servers.

I should be able to follow #Cara users from my Mastodon account.@davew RSS is not the same. I want them to know that I follow them, and to see my replies, and when I boost their art to my followers.

You can't convince me to make yet another account in a yet another silo, but I'd love to see and share more art in my home feed. Anyone have a connection to their team? Would love to chat about the #fediverse.

Me, feeding 2 people and 2 cats on a 60k EUR salary without benefits (because technically self-employed), reading those comments that claim a 501(c)(3) is some kind of nefarious scheme to hide money@aenea Angel investing is not the same thing as venture capital. Venture capital firms are a specific thing, and Biz is not part of that thing. Myself and other board members also disagree with Amir about AI. But he cares about Mastodon and he brings a lot of irreplaceable experience in law.

Post from @rabble on why he's chosen to use #Nostr and not #ActivityPub and the #Fediverse. He makes some compelling points. Personally I am not too worried about the server admin parts of his argument (I have enough control, even if I don't control th...
