Apparently I have the same fave Singapore breakfast stall as the outgoing prime minister.

Breakfast in Singapore is usually savory, greasy, flavorful.
Anything bland for breakfast is quite weird. I find breakfast in the western world to be utterly bizarre
My stomach doesn’t have time constraints for eating ‘real food’!
The idea of only eating specific foods at certain meals is also bizarre

@skinnylatte I once told a buddy that we liked having carbonara for like a breakfast when we had time, and they were shocked “that’s not a breakfast food” and it’s literally bacon and eggs
-
@skinnylatte I should work on getting faster on a cooked breakfast dish since that’s the main thing for me, I just want something quickly to get my day started, so usually just a bowl of yogurt with toppings
-
I should change that to *anything bland* would be weird at any time (except when you are sick. And even then I think our sick food has more flavor than some food in other parts of the world) hehe

@[email protected] How do you feel about eg tofu ranchero @ st. francis? I am not sure if that counts as western, at least in this context
-
@[email protected] I mean, I know you have opinions about tofu, so maybe that aside. They do an awesome egg version if that's more your speed

@pagrus diner food is different. I like diner food. Maybe my complaint is that there’s less diner food here and more nonsense bland bowls and smoothies and maybe that’s very specifically a SF thing.
Hearty breakfast diner food is cool by me, but still not as awesome in savory variety options as in Asia

@skinnylatte I wonder if that's a genetic thing like dry ear wax. I don't have a problem with food like that in the morning, but my wife will absolutely feel ill if she tries eating something heavy too early or too late. It's like her digestion has a circadian rhythm.

@dave probably gut bacteria! Hehe
