I’ve received invites to almost every queer Asian activism thing in the Bay Area this summer, so I think I’m going to be extremely busy. I don’t have enough ‘gala clothes’ but I am also excited that I don’t need to conform to the feminine expectations of such events in straight spaces.

I want rent the runway but for gender amorphous people
-
I also think going to these things is important for me so I stop feeling the doom and gloom of the ‘SF Asians are actually conservatives’ message I hear in the media. Have you seen the people I know??? Why doesn’t anyone write stories about how Asians in the Bay Area are radical progressives actually
-
@skinnylatte definitely something that might work better in the East Bay. I could tell you some stories from the late 90s and early 00s when I somehow ended up part of the Asian hip hop scene. ️
Awkwafina was there, actually…
-
@joshourisman oh yeah a lot of this stuff is east bay centered
-
@skinnylatte for me it was mostly centered in Fremont, even though I was living in Albany. Everything revolved around UC Berkeley, though.
-
@joshourisman I’m going to a queer AAPI gala in.. Hayward. Now that’s new.
-
@skinnylatte I would not have predicted Hayward! Though I probably haven’t been there in 20 years at this point.

@skinnylatte rent the runaway
