oh: neurotypicals should really learn to mask better. I know you want to talk about the weather but please just pretend you have a favorite lizard or something, it's not that hard

@nota who the hell doesn't have a favourite lizard?!? Tuataras are right there.
-
@nota I have a genuinely hard time imagining *not* having a favourite lizard.
...wait, do you mean a favourite lizard species or a favourite individual lizard?
-
@nota I'm awfully fond of blue-tailed skinks. :blobcatblush:
-
@HauntedOwlbear @nota I don't know if I am currently outing myself as autistic, a herpetology nerd, an insufferable pedant or any combination thereof, but:
Tuatara are not lizards.
-
@HauntedOwlbear @nota Here, have a random tuatara fact:
The oldest documented first-time parent in the world is a tuatara named Henry, who became a father at the age of 111.
-
@HauntedOwlbear @nota Also, given this: What *is* your favourite lizard?
-
I have a *very* hard time picking out a favourite species! There are so many to choose from. I also have a soft spot for Nile monitors, though Argentine black-and-white tegus occupy the same spot. And there's something humbling about the little, unimposing Eurasian viviparous lizards whose geographic distribution puts Genghis Khan's empire to shame.
My favourite individual lizard is an extremely sweet and friendly 16-year-old Northern blue-tongue named Igor.
-
@datarama @nota I was home visiting family last week and spent a healthy amount of time watching Phoenicolacerta troodica romping about the place
Check out these little dudes!

@HauntedOwlbear @nota Oh, those are so cool!
I live in Denmark, where there's only three species of wild lizard (Eurasian viviparous lizard, sand lizard and slow-worm), all of which are unfortunately quite shy and very good at hiding.
