#motorbike theory test next week so got an app to practice. Shocking to admit, but this the first time in 40 years that I’ve considered what I do and don’t know about the Highway Code etc. First run thru of several hundred test questions and I think I just about passed. But it’s pretty bad how much I didn’t know!

The licencing is a pain in the arse here in Australia too, but it's worth it in the end.Since you mentioned adventure bikes... they're larger than 650 cc, but check out the Honda NC750X and Africa Twin. They can be bought with DCT, which enables them to shift automatically - no clutch or gear lever, and no stalling. They have paddles on the bars that you can use to shift manually if so desired.

@marcusjenkins @Steveb I bought a Honda Grom to practice in my backyard and build some confidence before my training course. It was a great idea.The Honda Grom is the perfect bike for it too - cheap, light, and small. I outgrew it quickly, but don't have any regrets.
