Wow! Okay, is this new? Have a link to a working version of this? Am interested to see. Seems closed source you would think it's a detriment in general because you'd never get the kind of backing from plugin authors as you would from open source stuff.
Back in the days phpBB dominated when it came to forum RPGs. There were a few RPG mods for vB and IPB but none compared to the stuff phpBB was churning out, ex. Moogie's RPG MOD, Zarath's Shop MOD and Nuladion's customizable avatar MODs - if you saw an XP bar underneath an avatar in a forum you know which forum it was powered by.
I seriously doubt any of the modern players in the forum space gives a crap about this but I guess I do, so hopefully I can release a plugin that's a modern equivalent of all of the above some day
No idea, I played it once I think on their own site's demo but that was it. They churn out a lot of plugin's for vB and have a few debs working it. I've got a couple of their plug-ins for the car sites.
I think the trick today is mobile accessibility so people can rock a few turns on the cell between classes, chat about things they like, etc. Forum integration still can be viable but finding a way to make $ from it will be hard unless setting up a way to buy gold and turns like all the other browser based games do now.

Never got into LoRD but definitely did a lot of work with LotGD, loved that game, spent a lot of time adding cool stuff to it once upon a time
I remember at midnight every night my BBS lines were slammed with TradeWars, LORD, The Pit people wanting to rock out their daily turns. I think I still have my original paid copy of The Pit somewhere on 3.5" disk or maybe even 5.25" somewhere. The mail order wait back in the day to get these things was insane compared to the click and own world we have now!!

Tested before on my Samsuck Space Monster 55 or whatever it's called and it worked great for me.
I didn't know what my phone is/specs but I just checked for sake of adding info here:
Galaxy Nexus
Android ver: 4.2.2 -

I think the most famous BBS game is probably LotGD (original LoRD), maybe that's the one you're talking about
Legend of the Red Dragon was pretty good.
The Pit was dominating!!!

Haha well I appreciate the compliment It might be mid 80s but they're still selling game cards in 7/11s and Best Buy's. I think for us in general we never really had a good designer to take us to the next level so it may have been cool but it was always just limited to just a forum RPG, gain XP from posting a lot or battling your friends and that's it.
For vBulletin there is Forumon RPG http://www.dragonbyte-tech.com/product/76-forumon-rpg/
I never paid for it on my vB sites because the audience on those car sites just won't spend time in an RPG style environment. Supernerdz on the other hand.. is NodeBB so they must be crushed!

Ah it sucks right now, I need a few more weeks to get this working properly.
There was something like 300+ plugins developed for the original mod. I haven't mass-emailed the developers just yet but I'm hoping that a few of them will swing by and port their stuff once I get this finished. Kinda cool that a few of the above were already part of the NodeBB community but knew about ADR from before!
Just goes to show you never know who is lurking on the 'net
I had a game on my old BBS that was similar. It's the simple games that become the most addictive.

haha the original mod (for phpBB) was pretty great, we even had a flash version kinda like final fantasy. full-on exploration mode thing going on. One of these guys actually ended up going big time, everytime I see the gift cards in the 7/11's I get all jealous
ahhh I like the look of this one better that guys site looks like it's from the mid 80s lol. keep it nodebb specific so us flag bearers get a little traffic love for being the gateways to the game Glad to lend a hand on the non-code stuff if needed just shout.

Weirdness.. moved a thread, it disappeared!@psychobunny said:
Moved this to Bug reports, it was originally in General discussion. More importantly it seems to work Gief repro steps if not
Yeah wasn't a whole lot to repro, maybe just a weird anomaly who knows. I'll watch and mess around to see if I can do it again while watching.

[nodebb-plugin-openfantasy] Full-fledged RPG system for NodeBBWhoops I got so excited I didn't read the "don't install it yet" part.
Too late.
I'm still going to screw around in it Sounds like a blast.

3 Plug-ins you can't live without@psychobunny that RPG game looks boss. must installlllll

[nodebb-theme-pewter] Pewter Theme@psychobunny said:
Man I really need to have a look at this theme properly. I don't have an iPad/tablet though, but clearly, from above I have some bigger fish to fry. Trying to repro your bug on the homepage, I can't get that on a clean install.
I'm on Chrome MAC in case that makes any difference.
I think with the iPad issue it's just that the theme is triggering too early. Even though the pixel width might be X on an iPad, a website will still look good and usable. For instance, I have Lavender theme on now at supernerdz.com and it looks great on iPad, just like on my desktop. Then on phone it is the mobile version.
-
3 Plug-ins you can't live without@psychobunny I'm talking about existing ones so when new people come to the forums here for info, they can see which plug-ins various admins prefer and why.
-
[nodebb-theme-pewter] Pewter ThemeI'll just keep piling the ideas on while I'm screwing around with this and the lavender themes trying to decide which I want to use as a base.
on the iPad this goes into mobile mode. Problem I have is two fold.
1 - it's in mobile mode, iPad at least sideways at minimum I'd want to see the site regular
2 - It stretches those icons wide and narrows them, making them look like ass. Must be a cleaner way, or revert to the colors when mobile.Just more ideas to screw with ya @psychobunny

3 Plug-ins you can't live withoutLet's see what everyone says and see if we can turn each other onto plug-ins we might normally use.
For me it's more than 3 actually. The series of SSO (Single Sign On) plugins so users from other social networks can quickly join. It also brings an air of professionalism when you are connected with the big boys.
Which are your favorites, and why?

Weirdness.. moved a thread, it disappeared! No idea why. Changed a category to represent something else and wanted to move a thread to a more appropriate category.
POOF it's gone!
Wish I had more info fellas, but I looked back a few hours later and realized "hey where'd that sucka go?"
-
[nodebb-theme-pewter] Pewter ThemeAlso not sure if this is theme related or a site issue.
{topics.teaser.username} does not always display an image on the thread list inside of a category.
Keeping ya busy bro!!
-
[nodebb-theme-pewter] Pewter ThemeBTW when I do a page refresh (F5) it then shows just fine. Clicking any link to a "home" page, including using a widget with the domain home, ends up sending me to the wonky looking screen.
