@pichalite I understand now. I will open issues with the module developers. Thank you.

Navigation Route Text Not Displaying in Browser Tab for Third-Party PluginsThe navigation routes provided by third-party plugins do not seem to have a corresponding browser
Title Layout
. I am experiencing this problem with both thenodebb-plugin-question-and-answer
andnodebb-plugin-ns-awards
plugins. I am using theLavender
theme in NodeBBv1.4.4
, so not sure if the problem is a theme or core issue.Correct "home" route display:
Missing information to the Awards route:
ACP > General > Navigation

Is anyone else experiencing this? I am unsure when this problem began exhibiting this behavior.
Thank you.

Don't Laugh at Me: How to Add JS to Widget to Display TextI have to say that programmatically being able to show and hide content in a widget is fabulous. I now have a
Global > Global Header
widget that displays an image and text only when it is the "home" page. This is how I implemented one widget:
<widgetGH1></widgetGH1> <script type="text/javascript"> if(location.href === 'https://example.com/') { $('widgetGH1').html('<img src="//example.com/uploads/image.png"> Site Welcome Text'); } </script>

Nodebb backup losts plugins@audreybest Aren't the plugins stored in ./nodebb_modules/... ? If you did not backup/restore that directory then yes I believe you will need to reinstall the plugins. The database should have the plugin configuration settings retained though.

Don't Laugh at Me: How to Add JS to Widget to Display Text@baris Thank you. It is working great.

Don't Laugh at Me: How to Add JS to Widget to Display TextPlease keep all snickering to a quiet din!
How would I go about creating a script to display text in a NodeBB widget based on the value of a variable? For example when I try the following I get an error that
document.write
is not a function.<script type="text/javascript"> { if(app.user.username === me) { document.write('Display This Information'); } } </script>
Thank you.

Time for update to 1.4.4!@Jenkler Do you have a "dev" setup that you test in before? I put together a simple outline of how I clone my production environment to a dev/test environment to which I test my updates first. If you care you may find my post here:
How To: Create & Manage a NodeBB Test / Dev Environment
Create & Manage a NodeBB Test/Dev Environment Table of Contents Summary Caveats Webserver Nginx NodeBB PRD -> DEV Adjustments to DEV Upgrading DEV NodeB...
NodeBB Community (community.nodebb.org)
I have not updated my post in a while but it should still be accurate.

Time for update to 1.4.4!@Jenkler I am running
v1.4.4
and have not found any concerns after upgrading fromv1.4.3
-
Time for update to 1.4.4!@Jenkler My understanding from what I have read is that the designers seem to want to remove serving the static content through the node.js engine. Just let node.js do the NodeBB work but let Nginx (or any web server) serve out the static elements of the forum.
Although your configuration works today for
v1.4.3
and possible would forv1.4.4
it seems that in a future version it may no longer. -
Time for update to 1.4.4!@Jenkler Take a look at the docs on how your Nginx (if you are using Nginx) should be configured to handle the change to assets and plugins:
Specifically
location @nodebb { proxy_pass http://io_nodes; } location ~ ^/assets/(.*) { root /path/to/nodebb/; try_files /build/public/$1 /public/$1 @nodebb; } location /plugins/ { root /path/to/nodebb/build/public/; try_files $uri @nodebb; } location / { proxy_pass http://io_nodes; }

i want to play(mp4 file and mp4 url) in my web site how can i do it???@사다리하하 Try a regex like:
<a href="(.*).mp4">[^<]*</a>

i want to play(mp4 file and mp4 url) in my web site how can i do it???I believe this plugin will work for you:
nodebb-plugin-ns-embed
You will have to create a rule for the MP4 files. From an issue on it's github page there is a solution:
Internally uploaded video embeddind as HTML5 player · Issue #7 · NicolasSiver/nodebb-plugin-ns-embed
Would be nice to have default rules to embed videos uploaded to the posts. Here is example working with MP4: Regex: [^<]* Replacement:

Getting Version NumberThank you @baris . Your tip didn't get me precisely what I needed but it got me on the right path. This is what I was looking for:
config.version
-
Getting Version NumberIs there a way programmatically to retrieve the current, running, NodeBB version number?
Thank you.

How to configure plugins?@julian Does a forum restart execute the same as
./nodebb build
? -
How to configure plugins?@Mirko Have you restarted your NodeBB after you enabled the plugin? After that have you refreshed your browser? If you have done both of those you should see the S3 plugin in the plugin drop down area of the ACP from which you may configure it:

Is there an quick way to create a report about number of forum users? What I see as beneficial is a core feature (or a plugin I supposed) that exposes the database (read-only -- either Redis or Mongodb) keys in such a way that an administrator could create his own search queries with desired results.
I envision a picker of the thing that can be searched, a way to filter the results and then a picker on what fields should be displayed.
Does something like this exist?

[nodebb-plugin-ns-awards] NS Awards, Give Medals!@Nicolas Your broken plugin was bothering me! I found a work around.
In my public directory I created a symbolic link to the proper directory with the broken directory path. Now the award images render properly.
This is what I did:
In the
public
directory I created the symlinkln -s uploads/awards uploadsawards

Simplifying the URL@etakmit Are you wanting this as a "one off" so that you could more easily share links to the post? If so there are two solutions that may be adequate for you. The first is the
nodebb-plugin-smoothshorts
plugin.I was using the smoothshorts plugin for a while but ran into a few issues with it. I believe the developer @rbeer has stopped development of it. He did do a tremendous amount of work on it though but as with all plugins as NodeBB advances the plugins tend to need work to stay current. This method results in URLs like https://yourForumDomain.com/randomString
The second solution is something I cobbled together myself (with help from many on this site). It uses the YOURLS shortlink URL system as the backend and uses just a small amount of javascript and three lines added to one of the theme template files. This method results in URLs like https://aDifferentUrl.com/randomString
If you want me information about my little hack let me know. I did document it a fair amount in my original plea for help thread here: https://community.nodebb.org/topic/9712/post-tools-how-to-add-a-new-item
