Can an user select a group to join? -
[nodebb-plugin-classic-home] Classical Homepage@psychobunny i really love the simplicity of this theme/plugin (especially when we have many categories and sub-categories the default theme is not good). the 0.5.1 now support sub-categories, does this classic theme/plugin support sub-categories as well? thanks.

ACP parent-category picker not working@julian thanks for the hint- yes i resize it show up. but i still notice some issue - after i click one category from the category picker window, the chose category didn't show in the parent category field. after i refresh the page, it then show up. but not a big issue.
i have a suggestion --- instead of using a popup menu window for a list of all categories, maybe just use a auto-complete text box to allow user to type in the category name.... this will be much simple when we have many categories (i.e more than 30....).
Thanks.

Any user Invitation plugin under development?for many new forums, the hard part is to acquire users. if there is a "Invite" button in the header when user click it it allow user to input a few email address and a message , and invite those user to register. that will be very useful. if nobody work on it, I have interest to give a try. if anybody can give me some advice which plugin i can follow that would be great.

User profile show the groups the user belongs to@Developers I noticed a great feature that it show the poster's groups under his/her name when i read a post. but when i go to the user profile, no such groups info for that user is there. it will be great if that groups info is in user profile page as well, especially when a user belongs to many groups say more than 10 groups.... thanks!!

ACP parent-category picker not working@a_5mith
(1)yes it did ask me to provide admin name, password. i provided it.
(2) yes I have 2 folders. but i shutted down the nodebb process from one folder ~/nodebb , and from ~/nodebb-0.5.1 i did: nodebb start.
(do i need to do: npm up ? I did not do that I assume npm install will take care everything). -
can i use the older version of ACP?I like the older version of ACP. is there a way to use the older version of ACP with the new version of other code ? thanks.

ACP parent-category picker not working@a_5mith I did not upgrade, but did a fresh install on my local as follows:
git clone https://github.com/NodeBB/NodeBB.git nodebb
sudo npm install
./nodebb setup
./nodebb startwhen I go to ACP to add parent-category for a category - it did popup a window show a list of categories -- however when i click on of the category (anyone) - not response..
Now I tried to install the 0.5.1 release code, here is what i did:
wget https://github.com/NodeBB/NodeBB/archive/v0.5.1.zip
unzip v0.5.1.zip
cd NodeBB-0.5.1/
sudo npm install
./nodebb setup
./nodebb starti cleaned browser cache. also I did "flushall" on redis database before I run nodebb setup.
i assume i do not need to do git pull the vanilla theme.
this time when i go to ACP category - it show a blank page, even though the home page show 12 categores.

Subcategories not working as expected.@a_5mith said:

when user read the posts for a category A, maybe better include those posts from subcategories of A ?
So you mean when a user hovers on a sub category on the homepage, it switches the preview to posts in those child categories? Not sure teasers are included in in the child categories. Could get a bit confusing.
No -- I mean when user click on a category X and go to the page for that category -- there are 2 parts - 1) list of sub categories ; (2) list of topics for category X ( I mean should the topics include topics created in the subcategories of categoryX?).
from UI perspective, it's fine for homepage use lavender theme style, but for the category page with subcategories, the style of many boxes on top of list of topics seems not good.... better make the list of sub-categories very light for example just a list of text links.....

Keep in mind that I implemented the display of subcategories inside of the category view, so this may have been a duplication of some of the work you did.
I didn't see such "display of subcategories inside of the category view“ after I installed 0.5.1.....
(may be the following code is not the latest?)
category.tpl
<div class="subcategories">
<!-- BEGIN children -->
<!-- IMPORT partials/category_child.tpl -->
<!-- END children -->
</div> -
Theme Rocket sneak preview@psychobunny will this theme support sub-category (0.5.1) ? thanks.

0.5.1 installation problem...@julian thanks. I can login as admin now after git pull today.
I understand the sub-category is still working in progress. I am just wondering
how it will looks like: for example: I have category hierarchy like: US --> California --> SF Bay area; and US --> California --> San Diego area.when user navigate to California category page, will the user see all the subcategories link list (like "SF Bay area", and "San Diego area") , and also see the posts to "Californa" category ?
when user do a new post, when user select categories, will the drop-down menu show some tree-like hierarchy to allow user select a specific sub-category?
seems it introduces a lot of complexity to the code base. we really appreciate you guys' great work to make this feature working.

./nodebb upgrade (****** it seems working well except never finish..)
./nodebb startgoto localhost:4567 the home page show up with 12 categroies
however when i try to login as administrator.... the login never return....(I can register as new user, no problem...)
