Hey, can anyone tell me how can I forward the real IPs to NodeBB when running the forum behind nginx proxy? At the moment, every user has the local IP 127.0.0.1 displayed as the ''Recently Logged In IP''.

Anyone else on AMS2 through digital ocean?I'm on AMS2 and haven't had any issues so far...

NodeBB DiesSorry for bringing up this old post, but I've been struggling with the problem for almost a month now. I've tried many things - rewriting the start script, checking the logs for any error output etc. etc., nothing has helped so far. So I started thinking, that maybe the small amount of RAM is the reason for those unusual ''crashes''. So without doubt, I went for a 1024MB DigitalOcean VPS. And indeed, this improved the situation, however the NodeBB still crashes every now and then, but not on a daily basis anymore.
So I'm thinking that maybe there is a memory allocation problem with NodeBB or just NodeJS? I'm on NodeBB 0.4.3, not on the latest build ofc.I'll do some tests and write back with some RAM allocation results.

Some problem with plugins@Loethen-Shen
If you are usingnodebb-plugin-emoji-extended
then there is a 'dirty' fix for that.
Navigate to your Emoji plugin folder and openindex.js
.
Example path:/home/nodebb/node_modules/nodebb-plugin-emoji-extended/index.js
.Once you've opened the file, find a part where it states
emojiPath="http://127.0.0.1:4567/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/images/"
.
Set this to something like thisemojiPath="http://forum.domain.com/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji-extended/images"
Of course, this will only work if you are running NodeBB with nginx or Apache proxy.

Tentative date for release of 0.5xI think @julian or @psychobunny mentioned it somewhere... Anyway, if I'm correct, then their post stated that it will be released in late June.

Latest NodeBB, cannot start process, logs tell nothing -
NodeBB Dies@julian
Alright, I'll give it a try.Edit: Tried it & it gives a 502 error instantly.

NodeBB Dies@julian
#! /bin/bash
# /etc/init.d/nodebbcase "$1" in start) echo "Starting NodeBB..." cd /home/nodebb/foorum ./nodebb start ;; stop) echo "Stopping NodeBB..." cd /home/nodebb/foorum ./nodebb stop ;; *) echo "Usage: /etc/init.d/nodebb {start|stop}" exit 1 ;; esac exit 0

NodeBB DiesI can't really tell if I'm experiencing the same situation, however, every now and then after about 24-36h NodeBB randomly ''dies'' & when it does that, it displays error 502, which I can only resolve with rebooting the VPS. I'm also running it with nginx proxy & NodeBB is started on every reboot using
./nodebb start
in aninit.d
service. -
Problem initializing sounds?@julian Hmm... That does not seem to do the trick. The chmod value starting from
nodebb-plugin-soundpack-default
is set to 777. The parent directorynode_modules
is set to 775 (I'd doubt there would be anything different if it were 777). However the error does not seem to pop up in the error.log, although I can't hear the sounds, even when testing from ACP.
Btw, the proper command to reset the permissions to the user would be:$ chown markkus:markkus node_modules -R

Problem initializing sounds?Hi,
Can anyone tell me what could be causing this error? Users have reported to me that they no longer hear notification sounds. I think it has something to do with this. My guess would be that the CHMOD value is not high enough, although I've tried increasing the values up to 777.
{"level":"error","message":"Could not initialise sound files:EACCES, unlink '/home/nodebb/foorum/public/sounds/notification.mp3'","timestamp":"2014-05-21T17:40:24.532Z"}

Disabling tags@trevor Nice, thanks for the tip
-
Disabling tagsJust wondering if there will be an option to disable tags in the next NodeBB release?
-
REDIS BACKUPJust make a copy of it.
cd /var/lib/redis/
cp dump.rdb /place/where/you/store/files/dumpBackup.rdb
Btw, before doing that make sure you are in
sudo bash

TypeError: Converting circular structure to JSON - by registration@julian said:
git reset --hard 6ec36a00ad7828041346f55013374f2eee579480
In my case, the given hash does not seem to fix the problem
Or am I doing something wrong? I entered
git reset --hard 6ec36a00ad7828041346f55013374f2eee579480
, thengit pull
(?) and lastly./nodebb upgrade
