Little missaligment in breadcrumb -
Purge topicsReading it again, you'll want to actually execute
.leave()

[nodebb-plugin-link-preview] Rich Embeds and Link Previews@josef I agree! I'll look into making this change. It's not something the ntfy plugin does, but rather core automatically wrapping images in links.

Vote for nodeBB on BitnamiWould love to contribute a one-click installer image to DigitalOcean... we floated that idea before, so perhaps now's a good time to reevaluate.
-
Facebook policy warningIt probably means they don't like the facebook button you use for SSO login. Google does similar things.
As a quick workaround, you can use custom JS to replace the login button with the appropriate "Login with Facebook" button.

Error in console.Why shouldn't I use
sudo
to run NodeBB?You do not want to run NodeBB using
sudo
because this causes NodeBB to be run via theroot
user. This superuser has complete access to the entire system and should NodeBB ever become compromised, then a malicious user can utilise NodeBB as an attack vector to take over your system.Secondary effects from running NodeBB under
sudo
include the changing of ownership of some files toroot
, which would complicate administration of your NodeBB further as future starts of NodeBB will fail with anEACCES
error, simply because some files could not be written to, as they are now owned by root instead of the regular user!Best practice security recommends running NodeBB with as few privileges as possible (ideally,
nobody:nogroup
), but practically an unprivileged user is perfectly fine.By the way, this also means running NodeBB as a user that has sudo access is also insecure. Just some food for thought.

[nodebb-plugin-import-users-csv] User Migration via CSV Uploadv1.1.1 contains the ability to customize the delimiter if your export tooling doesn't use commas to separate values.

Is it possible to force new users to register by their phone numbers?!Tricky, but not impossible...
You'd need:
- a plugin to add a phone # field to the registration step
- upon registration, send SMS or otherwise manually verify the phone number
- upon verification, add user to a user group that has posting access to your categories, etc.
-
Facebook policy warning@Normando I'll be doing a review of SSO plugins in the next few days so I'll handle this issue then.

[nodebb-plugin-reactions] Reactions plugin for NodeBBPlease keep in mind this is a third party plugin, so it is not up to @baris to fix

What is the current configuration of the Nodebb forum?Hi @RichG
- NodeBB v0.7.0-dev (
master
branch) - Node.js 0.11.15
- nginx 1.4.6
- MongoDB v3.0.2 (used to be on Redis, actually...)
- Dual core system, 1GB RAM (currently sitting at ~60% usage at the moment)
- The real boost is with the second core, so users logging in/registering won't block the Node.js process, as bcrypt hashing is a computationally expensive process (by design)
Though even for this forum, we could still fit on the smallest DigitalOcean droplet.
- NodeBB v0.7.0-dev (

Facebook policy warning@Normando Please try v3.5.0 and re-submit to Facebook, let me know if this is acceptable!

recentreplies.js Error causing problemsYes, the second issue was fixed and is in latest
master
at the moment -
[nodebb-plugin-ns-embed] NS EmbedWe could fork it out and fix. It's fairly simple, instead of assuming
.alertSuccess
is available, you now have to require thealerts
module and call.success

Who is responsible for the swedish translation ? -
Breadcrumb missing left paddingHey @baris, now we know why the padding was there
-
recentreplies.js Error causing problemsYes, you can cherry-pick this sha to get it into your NodeBB
Edit: You just happened to catch me online at the same time, hah. The flag issue is also resolved from a couple days ago, so it wasn't done just now
-
[nodebb-plugin-ns-embed] NS EmbedWe usually propagate the change back, as I believe @Nicolas is accepting PRs.

new hereHello there!
NodeBB is designed to work best under a virtual private server. Using a traditional hosting service is not recommended as they do not have the capabilities to power NodeBB effectively.
- The code and instructions can be found here at our project repository
- Full instructions can be found in our Documentation Portal
- We recommend DigitalOcean to host your NodeBB, you'll get a month free just by registering with this link. You can also try applying the 10TOSHIP coupon to get another two months free.
Thank you for your interest in NodeBB!
