As an aside, Dr. Strangelove was an absurdist parody in it's time, but now it just seems like a plausible alternative timeline.

People make fun of the “what happens in the booth stays in the booth” election ads, but I know poll workers who have had to keep husbands out of their wive’s voting booths because they had to “make sure she votes right”.@scott Decades ago my mom told me my dad tried to go into the voting booth with her. Poll workers stopped him.
