Spotify just reported record-breaking profits.

As some of my older mutuals know, I have a long and ambivalent history with Spotify and the streaming music economy.... https://medium.com/@aramsinn/why-i-quit-spotify-after-13-years-and-why-it-feels-like-a-personal-failure-9b73bacd3695

cancel your Spotify subscription and buy some of your artists' music. even if you then forever listen to their music with adblock, you've likely made them more money. -

That's what I have, for that reason, but their Android app sucks and there's no web player and they dropped their Roku app. Ughhhhh.

Yeah, I'm using Tidal and i think it lacks some functionality, but it works in my car and on my phone well enough. The LG TV app is pretty awful and i miss the integration with PlayStation that Spotify has, but on the whole i feel like it's worth it to pay artists that i would never discover otherwise.
If price is a concern, Tidal has reduced their rates recently. The family plan i used to pay $30 for with super fidelity tracks available is now about half the price. And there are third party services to migrate your libraries.Tidal used to pay 3 bucks to whichever artist i listened to the most in a month but i think they may have stopped that.
I still try to buy a shirt or a jacket from my favorites once in a while to throw them some actual money -

I buy vinyl I never actually listen to.

Wait, there's a web player? Where?
The thing the app particularly sucks at is offline listening. The ui for managing downloads is bad, but worse once you go into settings and flip the offline switch, it disables most of the app — even things that could work fine on the library of downloaded content.

TIDAL - High Fidelity Music Streaming
TIDAL is the first global music streaming service with high fidelity sound, hi-def video quality, along with expertly curated playlists and original content — making it a trusted source for music and culture.
Music on TIDAL (listen.tidal.com)
I agree about the offline listening.
