@randomgeek it's pretty great. Lots of stuff to love. For example, the use of under-cranking to speed up the footage for certain shots. Very playful. Great production design too.
-
@randomgeek I haven't seen it in so long but I remember loving it.
-
@onelson for a little while I’ve thought Blade should get credit for opening the door on big super hero movies, but seeing it tonight I realized it opened the door more for the Matrix school of martial arts super hero movies.

@randomgeek there are so many false starts for comic movies. I can't really say where the watershed was. As for opening doors, idk. I have no idea how big studios decide when a project feels like a safe bet, but I know they often get it wrong in that they are way too conservative.
-
@onelson I think studios work on their own timeline. I was thinking more about creators and audiences going “yeah I could enjoy more of that.”
-
@randomgeek It holds up? I've been thinking about watching it again, but always worry about something I liked 30 years ago still being watchable.
-
@jtgrimes I wouldn't be surprised if I let nostalgia gloss over bits, but Blade has for sure held up better than most of the other works I enjoyed in the 90s.
