People make fun of the “what happens in the booth stays in the booth” election ads, but I know poll workers who have had to keep husbands out of their wive’s voting booths because they had to “make sure she votes right”.

People make fun of the “what happens in the booth stays in the booth” election ads, but I know poll workers who have had to keep husbands out of their wive’s voting booths because they had to “make sure she votes right”. When I was phone banking I also talked with a woman who’s husband or boyfriend was clearly around and it almost definitely changed the nature of the call. Voter intimidation by men is a real problem and I’m glad these ads address it.

@scott Decades ago my mom told me my dad tried to go into the voting booth with her. Poll workers stopped him.
