i really do not get the 'yay bluesky' stuff
i just got a 'dorsey really isn't involved anymore' comment
so fucking what?!?!?! dorsey said he only trusted eloon to run twitter and sold it to him
dorsey is not a good judge of character and i don't trust anyone running bluesky because MONEY
eat the rich
-
@samiamsam @benroyce @JonChevreau @mardigroan
BlockChain/Cryptobro owns it now. Dorsey not being involved is a lateral move.
Which I'm sure you all already know but for the lurkers:
Bluesky says it wonโt use blockchains even though itโs funded by Blockchain Capital.
Its $15 million funding round was led by Blockchain Capital, a venture capital group that has invested in crypto firms, like Kraken, OpenSea, and Coinbase. Despite this, Bluesky says itโs not changing its stance on blockchains:

dude my point is plutocrat controlled social media says bill gates is giving you 5G through vaccines
i don't know why you're hung up on this point, but it feels like you're trying to "both sides the same" a topic which is obviously a giant swamp of right wing morons and edgelords
-
Ok these platforms both sides can be the same.
This doesn't change the fact millions of voters use them and democrats aren't effectively running their campaigns on them.
I'm not interested in the pockets where 5G conspiracies are running amuck... I'm interested in the pockets where casual conservatism lives. Those pockets are not beyond convincing and democrats don't engage effectively.
-
"democrats aren't effectively running their campaigns on them"
and my point is they can't
it's owned by the plutocrats. they control the algorithms. they amplify the edgelords saying hateful things for clout and the racist misogynistic and transphobic trolls
why are you trying so hard to push this lie that it is a level playing field?
it's not
the left needs its own platform. you can't compete fairly in the fascist's house
-
-
and now you're proving my point!
do you understand who joe rogan is? do you view him as some impartial everyman?
we need our own joe rogan
you don't win in a rigged game
-
He talks to everyman types. Trump knew to capitalise on this free media, and he did it on other similar shows.
Rogan basically endorsed Bernie and the left lost their minds over the fact Bernie was even engaging.
You know it's ok to talk to people that don't already agree with you. It's actually significantly more effective.
Go look at the voting demographics that dems lost and compare them to the demographics that watch Rogan.
-
i don't give a shit about joe rogan. i agree, i disagree, it doesn't matter. you're railroading. you did that before with voting conspiracies. address the topic, don't twist it
the topic:
if you invite me to play cards, and you use a rigged deck, i'm not playing cards with you
if you don't understand that point, then we're done. because that's centralized social media: they amplify right wing lies, and squelch the left
you can't expect anyone to engage on those terms
-
I'm not expecting you to use these platforms. That was never my point. I really don't care if you do or don't use them. Personally I don't either.
But Democrats need to reach tens of millions of people and I have no problem with them using them to the best of their abilities to do so.
Which I don't think they did in this election cycle.
You're having your own argument at this point.
-
no, you keep going off arguing your own points without listening to what i am saying
you're arguing the democrats didn't reach people because {X}
i don't care
i'm talking about the future
i've been very clear on that
look at the top comment
-
Ultimately we agree, it would be better in the future to address these platforms. That's an amazing insight... Got anything to contribute in regards to how?
Some tangible ideas?
In the meantime while you're imagining something that at best will take probably 8-10 election cycles to achieve... I'm going to argue that these are platforms democrats need to engage better with.
They aren't going away.
-
it won't take that long. it just needs an inflection point that starts a stampede
i do have tangible ideas. stay tuned. i followed you. follow me back or if you don't like handing out follows bookmark me
"I'm going to argue that these are platforms democrats need to engage better with"
absolutely not. i've clearly told you why that cannot work
-
-
you don't believe that the centralized corporate social media platforms have algorithms that opaquely emphasize and deemphasize certain content?
you believe that these platforms play fair and that democrats' voices stand on equal footing with racist trolls and moronic conspiracy theories?
you believe it is wise to exert effort at engaging on these platforms so that your engagement can be buried?
you trust these plutocrat assholes?

Preaching only to the choir isnโt helping much either, frankly.

Certainly feel that frustration. What do you suggest?
