Here a mockup how it could look like on nodebb.org forum:

I don't want certain groups to be visible to the public. Is there any way to hide them?
Sure you can. Go to the Admin Control Panel (ACP) -> Manage -> Groups
From there you can click 'Edit' on any group you want to hide from being publicly displayed and check the 'Hidden' checkbox.
Note: I've joined NodeBB since 0.7.1 so on older version it could be different.
Hmm, there is no such option in mine, running NodeBB v0.7.0. Either you wrote your version wrong, or I have a ridiculously old version (which I downloaded like a week ago).

I completely misspelled the version. I meant 0.7.1!
It looks like this http://i.imgur.com/gmIhsND.png
Possibly we introduced the concept of hidden groups in between v0.7.0 and the to-be-released v0.7.1.
Got it. I'll just wait for a new version... is there an ETA on version releases or will I be better off manually updating? ^_^
@LordRelish You can make the group hidden in v0.7.0 too but not from ACP.
Go to the groups page and click on a group to go to the details page. You will see the option on the right side under "Group Administration". Just click on the section title to expand it.
Cool, thanks.
