best approach is what @scottalanmiller said, delete account but keep topic and post maybe with and alias user465 with the id of that account
another option should be the current one, delete all
Moderation Question. How do you ban or suspend users?
-
I might be overlooking something, but trying to understand how you ban or suspend a user. I was looking at a user profile via admin, and couldn't find anything. Nothing on a page/post.
Also is there a record of a users history when they have been banned?
-
@shinyidol you can ban users from the ACP.
Go to ACP>Manage>Users. You will see the list of users. Click on a gravatar to select the user and click "Ban User" from the "Edit" drop down menu.
-
@shinyidol I don't think there is history of when they have been banned.
-
Gotcha. Never crossed my mind to make a selection and use the edit. Expected it to be in the actual user profile.
It would also be extremely helpful to have a moderation action history. Having managed some very large communities, it is super helpful to have a record of a users history and an entire site history of actions done (who did it, statement of why, how long).

@shinyidol I am not sure if all of that belongs in the core. You can create a plugin to do that.

I'd say for large scale use that is a pretty huge deal at least in my industry (video games). So many trolls. Platforms that don't have a moderation history and having to use an external service (excel spreadsheet) isn't ideal.

@shinyidol I agree, having a proper audit log is a good idea, and ideally should be built into core.
Our logging system could use a revamping, however...
