Hm... you could always use the "Recent Topics" widget and place it in the MOTD -- that will allow you to show the latest threads on the front page.
You could also use this plugin to manually pick threads to feature, or possibly use this plugin to override the main homepage.

Actually, to my knowledge, we don't really have a category that shows all posts from all categories... maybe /recent, but we'll have to take a look at your site to see what you're talking about!
