You'll probably want to use the Quill Composer, which is our official (in development) WYSIWYG composer.
You should be able to download it from the plugins list.
Don't you use markdown here?
Done that multiple times now
What browser are you using? Desktop notifications won't work on older browsers and probably any version of IE that gets released in the next 20 years
For some reason its working fine now, ive always had Latest versions of chrome and firefox
Is there a magic trick to get these working on Android? I've got a Galaxy S4 running Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Logged in using Chrome, don't get any push notifications. Does it only work on default browser?
Just looked it up, chrome mobile doesn't support push notifications just yet (maybe beta builds might). Surprisingly mobile Opera and blackberry works, as well as Firefox
@psychobunny Thanks, thought it would be something like that, I'll try with the stock browser or Firefox.
This looks interesting: https://developer.apple.com/notifications/safari-push-notifications/
I love this
Desktop / mobile notification is a great forum feature! Would love it!
Works with Firefox for Android sound only (no visual notification).
No success with Chrome and Firefox @ linux desktop and Chrome @ Android.
Have to test it with a windows machine soon...
nodebb-plugin-vibration-notifications (via admin panel)
nodebb-plugin-desktop-notifications (via admin panel)
Unless I'm mistaken, PushBullet should still be working fine, and provides desktop notifications if you have the Pushbullet browser plugins installed
Thanks, installed it for testing at my mobile.
Should be available as plugin after NodeBB 0.5 release.
But needs a additional client sie Plugin / APP.
@psychobunny is this still active?
Have it on our test forum and a couple of issues.
1 - Mobile notifications only work on very few mobile browsers today: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/notification (click on the mobile tab under Browser Compatibility). We also have the pushbullet plugin (which requires a 3rd party app, but works on all mobile devices)
2 - Notification throttling is probably something to think about for core. This plugin just pushes the notifications that come in through the system, so best handled higher up
plugin does not work.
You'll need to provide more information, as the plugin does work in our dev environments. What errors do you see?
i Nodebb-plugin-pushbullet updated. improved.
plugin does not work.
Dang, was hoping for a privacy-friendly alternative to Pushbullet. The permissions on pushbullet are too much.
Is this still being maintained? It looks like this isn't flagged as supporting 1.4 yet. Want me to put in a GitHub issue?
@teh_g I'd like to see either this plugin or something similar support ServiceWorkers and push notifications.
@PitaJ I agree. That would be great.
