You are able to validate everybody's email from within "Manage -> Users". See top option in the dropdown below.

When I signed in here (nodebb forum) the system didn't recognize me and it prompted me to send confirmation email to activate. What happened?
Please explain.
@peter email confirmation is turned on here as a spam precaution to stop anyone registering with a fake email address. It is usually disabled by default. But can be turned on in the ACP.
I can understand that for new users but why would it prompt me after being on here for couple of months.
Is nodebb software itself designed to do that after a set period?

It was turned on after you joined. But your email wasn't confirmed. You can also confirm accounts from within the control panel too. I confirmed all my existing accounts when I set it up.
