It's not a plugin, it is a theme change.
I'm sorry, you're right 🙂
Yes exactly! I want the user to pick a topic. Ofcouse within a catagory but that would also be hardcoded
@Cap Ok, what would be the point of them picking a topic? What does it do? Does this plugin exist in another forum platform that I could take a look at?
I am also confused.
We are planning a forum for stock discussion. So the idea is that the user can choose from a list of stocks in a list fx. S&P500 where the user would choose from 500 diffrent stock symbols. The reason why is because we want to link the ongoing discussion with all kinds of information about the firm/topic. Ofcouse we want to provide a catogory where people can freestyle and discuss whatever topic within the stock frame they want.
So does It make more sense now? I guess it could be a forum about cars fx. Where One would choose between specific car brands in specific catagories?
@Cap It does, but it certainly seems like something that would be better suited to tags or categories/sub categories. Topics aren't really one for that sort of manipulation in most cases. However if you wanted to lock the users down to only a specific category, then the groups feature may be more useful. So that people in group S&P500 can only access those topics/categories.
Ok would it be possible to force people to tag a new topic before submitting?
@Cap Should be. You could probably create a very simple plugin that looks at something like topic.create (actual hook mary vary) and then if there's no tags, error message that at least 1 tag is required.
I think @julian may be able to confirm or deny this.
EDIT: This post was flagged by akismet, I clicked Submit again, and it worked... I am, confused.
Hook documentation is on the wiki. https://github.com/NodeBB/NodeBB/wiki/Plugin-Hooks
Although it might not be 100% up to date.
