I don't know why, but after an reinstall from ghost it works.
I do what @The-Worms posted. And, that works 🤸
@The-Worms Thank you! 🍻
Based on the Youtube plugin,
I modified it to embed vimeo videos with a classic link.
Intall with :
npm install nodebb-plugin-vimeo
Restart the server, activate the plugin in admin panel, and restart again.
Whoa, nice plugin @tedr56!
this is seriously awesome. thanks @tedr56!
I just finished writing a how-to guide for plugins based on the youtube plugin, but looks like you didn't need it at all
Just replacing some strings, but learned the cool npm publish system.
Great work to you.
I planned to do the same with dailymotion too, for frenchies NodeBB adepts.
And other embeded platforms like Soundcloud.
Nice, good to know, the more the merrier, really!
At some point, I'm going to release a consolidated "onebox" base, so that plugins like @psychobunny's youtube, and your vimeo plugin can work together, so that all detected assets are placed neatly at the bottom of a post, instead of replaced inline.
Let me know what you think.
Sure, a little framework for this kind of thing would be nice.
But I'm not sure about the bottom part personnaly.
By the way, soundcloud plugin ready.
Talking about it, motivated me.
This would be nice if the video scaled with the window resizing, like the images.
@tedr56 You could implement some of the code in the Youtube plugin, I added some code to @psychobunny's plugin that makes the video responsive. Or I could do it and submit a pull request, either one's fine.
Also, maybe we can merge these two plugins to a video embed plugin since they essentially do the same thing? It would be of course up to the authors
Love the idea of a single plugin for embedding videos. Much better than having to install several plugins.
Maybe somebody can extend it to make it possible to embed any type of video, even plain Flash.
You are totally cool to do whatever you want with my work
Really all these plugins I've made so far are just samples for future plugin authors to base their work off, and I'm glad to see people like @tedr56 and @bdharrington7 make something off it.
If anybody wants to take over authorship I'm glad to hand it over, I've got a lot on my plate with NodeBB anyways
For simplicity's sake, the plugins can stay as plugins, and someone could theoretically create one "meta" plugin that just
require's the other plugins and adds its own hooks...
(Edit: god, I love our plugin system)
Plugin updated for NodeBB 0.4.3.
Not sure if this is needed for BBS/forum, but I think it'd be cooler if the embed plugins for YouTube/Vimeo/DailyMotion have bunch of options like the WordPress JetPack for us to specify options for the video.
Hi- love the idea of this plugin. I am seeing broken image icons in this thread which is consistent with what I am seeing in my dev environment. Did this plugin break with the upgrades?
Thanks very much! Maybe I missed it, but can you help me with the markdown syntax to get a vimeo video to show? I tried a few different things including copying the whole vimeo share code, just the iframe, putting in a markdown image tag, etc.
@GeneralLedger, did you install the plugin, activate it , and restart NodeBB already?
