@lenovouser I've seen that. And immediately got scared off by the fact that it's no ddos protection. CloudFlare might have its problems like no WebSocket support on lower plans. But comparing these 2 then Cloudflare is easly the industry standard. And for good reason.
Anyone else on AMS2 through digital ocean?
-
Just went to access my site, 502. Hmm, ok, log into putty to check the logs, connection refused. Hmm, log into digital ocean,
We're experiencing slow event processing in AMS2 resulting in a backlog of events. Events have been temporarily disabled in AMS2 while our engineers investigate the issue.
So I can't load the recovery to get my droplet back. :rage3:
Marvellous. But on the plus side I've got my referral money, spiffing.
-
Nah, I'm using NY1, it won't let me use or access AMS2 for due to the capacity.
-
@a_5mith that's not nice. It's working for me now on ams2. I should probably move the AWS.
-
I'm on AMS2 and haven't had any issues so far...
-
@markkus Seems to have been fixed since about 3-4am this morning.

@Giorgio-Chiodi I actually messaged them while my site was down, they replied with
We disabled Events as a precaution from people abusing our API to create and destroy droplets for out 2,000,000th droplet contest. (They did one at 1,000,000 which won someone $10,000, so imagine the 2,000,000 is for $20,000. They manually enabled the recovery for me and allowed me to run fsck, by the time I'd done that it was back up.
They also said that their actions shouldn't have had any effect on the droplet and that it may just have been bad timing. But they gave me a free $20 of credit to apologise for any inconvenience. So everythings good again.
-
@a_5mith holy.... I didn't know of such a contest - it really doesn't sound like a good idea, especially if you're risking to bring everything down.
Also, freezing a website for hours would do much more damage than 20 bucks, once it's deployed.I think I'll use DO just for testing for now.
-
@Giorgio-Chiodi I think my issue may have been due to the latest commit, but it wasn't until the site crashed that it didn't restart. But they definitely should protect against this in future.

@Giorgio-Chiodi, our upstream provider is Digital Ocean also, so we'd go through the same issues you'd experience, only you wouldn't have to deal with them, we would
