Changing icon color in Navigation bar

after reading a thread on how to change icon color
I went to navigation and tried putting either of

• {color: green;}
• .fa {color: green;}

in the Class: field of the Navigation icons set up page
I was hopeful that one might change the black and white colour but neither worked
Is it possible?
I saw other fields ID, text class. What do they do?

You can use the custom css section in the ACP to customize it, just give the navigation items a custom class in the class field. Then use css to target that.
