Thank you, I didn't try that approach, instead, I realized I can change the settings directly from the code. So I'm baking in my settings into my plugin and setting them in the init.

There's no built-in way to do this at the moment, but you could use a userstyle. Something like https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/styl-us/ maybe? That would require you know how to use CSS.
If you'd like a dark theme in the ACP you could make a feature request on our Github issues page.
