Quick update, probably user error.
I misunderstood "Restart NodeBB" to mean restart the process. When using the Restart button on the Dashboard and uninstall/reinstall the plugin works as expected in the simple case.
Sorry to bother y'all. Thanks.
... because who doesn't like GIFs?
Immature, you say? Waste of time, eh? Totally.
NodeBB now has a plugin allowing you to search and reply with GIFs. It is available now, installable via the plugin name
nodebb-plugin-tenor-gif. As the name suggests, it is powered by Tenor GIF.
The only acceptable replies to this topic are GIFs. Thank you.
It crashes on my node 1.6.1 install

@whitts feel free to file that on the plugins github page.
This is way better than my giphy plugin
NodeBB is now complete
@bri You made a giphy plugin? Now I'm sad, I thought I was the first... sorry to tread on your toes
@torn2 Did you
./nodebb build after installing?
Oh, I know, I fixed this already, download the latest version please. v1.0.2
@julian That did it. All good now.
Yeh, i noticed when i went to the github page to report the issue (enter Tenor API key) Thanks
@julian No worries! It was more just an idea that I wanted to play with. Kinda clunky to actually use in its current state
