Liebe Freunde des #Fediverse,
ist es eurer Erfahrung nach sinnvoll, eher von "#ActivityPub-basierten Diensten" als vom Fediverse zu sprechen?
Oder beides synonym verwenden und gut mischen? Hintergrund: Ich stelle das Konzept föderierter Dienste vor und rechne damit, dass viele Zuhörer:innen vielleicht "Mastodon" schonmal gehört haben, aber sonst noch nicht tief in der Materie stecken.

@davidlohner since Fediverse was originally used when referring to AP, I don't think it should be changed just because their are other federated protocols being developed.
That being said, when referring to AP directly or platforms that integrate AP directly is when I'll refer to Fediverse. However, if a platform is bridged to AP from their original protocols, I'll say "bridged to the Fediverse with BridgyFed/Momostr/etc" so that others are not confused about which platforms are direct players here.

@BeAware sounds plausible, thanks. I do not think, that my audience will be aware of these bridges. I guess, I'll "just" introduce them to the concept of federated social networking.

@davidlohner good luck. I wasn't aware of the context but I'm sure you'll do fine.
There are resources you can point them to. I would really recommend the newest waveform podcast episode. It's very good, but I can see why some wouldn't want to watch a 1+ hour video on the topic of social media.️
