Completely Useless Legislation, Exhibit A:
Hungary has a new law that students have to surrender their phones at school. The phones have to be locked up, hauled around in safety boxes by teachers etc. Students get them back at the end of the day.
A friend of mine teaches high school. He noticed that when students get their phones back, they don't even turn them on, just toss them in their bag.
Decoy phones.
Seriously, no one thought about this?...

@TarkabarkaHolgy It's not the law here, but it's something a lot of UK school are doing too, including my kids' school. The real kicker is that all their timetables, homework assignments, messages from teachers and so on are only available online, so they have no means of accessing them while on school property. The resulting chaos is incredible.

@hedders same. They implemented a digital meal ticket system at the same time... so now kids have to print the digital meal tickets.

@TarkabarkaHolgy our school’s solution to that was to implement facial recognition. Which is creepy AF, IMHO.
