@newsmast @tchambers @KamalaHarrisWin
great work, this is really cool stuff

Is there any chance you've got plans or thoughts around making your groups compatible with the "threadiverse" (lemmy, mbin, piefed, nodebb etc)?

Hi, we'd love to see our groups working alongside more Fediverse options.
Our plans are to make everything as compatible as possible, but the tech doesn't always make it easy.
That doesn't mean we won't try though!
-
@newsmast Yes we’d love to do this!

@laurenshof @maegul @newsmast @rimu We’d very much like to do this!

@michael @laurenshof @maegul @newsmast Ahh that is pretty interesting - the 'group' is an Actor of type 'Service' instead of 'Group' which is pretty unusual. It's not going to work with any threadiverse platform, probably.
The way it is now works best with Mastodon and friends. To make it play nice with PieFed & Lemmy it would need to be more like this FEP describes https://codeberg.org/fediverse/fep/src/branch/main/fep/1b12/fep-1b12.md
Mastodon is a bigger audience so it makes more sense to target that.

How is it when it comes to other Fediverse software?
* a.gup.pe is known to only 100% working with Mastodon-powered instances.
* Lemmy, Kbin, Mbin instances are hit-and-miss with the rest of the Fediverse.
So far, the only ones that works consistently with any Fediverse software are the groups feature of Friendica (and Hubzilla).
In addition, there is also fedigroups.social which works with any Fediverse software.
The Newsmast Groups software works well with the rest of the Fediverse? I mean, not just Mastodon-powered servers, like Friendica and fedigroups.social ?

@youronlyone @tchambers Hi Yohan! Thanks for your question. Groups on Newsmast work the same way as Mastodon accounts. They can be viewed, followed and engaged with from any Fediverse platform, and if your follow request is approved, you can post to them from any Fediverse platform as well. Hope that helps!
