@rabble I was curious so checked out the app. Noticed you said this about it on Nostr: “Interestingly Primal is the best Nostr client ecosystem and they’ve also had to introduce centralization to make the experience work well.” Can you explain more about the centralization aspect of Primal? (not trolling, just interested in how it works)

@ricmac primal runs an extra relay that aggregates content from the broader network and then provides calculations like follower counts and push notifications. They also have a CDN for media. It’s possible to do follower counts and push notifications in a more decentralized way but it’s not as good. Primal also also provides a bunch of custom algorithms and only with the latest release added support for third party algorithms. Primal also supports a really slick wallet by using Apple Pay to fund
