WTF #mbta.

The colors green and orange both share yellow as a component, but there is no yellow line. This is why they didn't suggest the red, blue, or purple lines-- they have no yellow. Orange is the closest to yellow available. Now quit carping and get on that train to Forest Hills.

I mean, I get needing to deal with a medical emergency, but I'm glad I don't need to get to work on time — there are like 200 people on this platform and accumulating. On the sign the train to Heath St. says it's only going to Government Center, and the time is "stopped away".

In the schema, busses are yellow. FWIW.

@mattdm Government Center to Park isn't a long walk. I don't know how long you've been in Boston but sometime look at a physical map of stations. It might surprise you. The recommendation to use the Orange Line might not be wholly unreasonable. When I worked in the city, the connections I'd take depended more on the weather than what was maximally efficient. If you're anywhere near the Common it's not more than five minutes to walk from one stop to another. Anyway, check out the list of stops here - the route map: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orange…
I often miss working in the city. Damned COVID.

My understanding is Somerville itself didn't want transit links.
I think you are right about the attitude. The lack of transit when the red line is down is very hard to express. What we need is a DogFood law that prohibits c-suite employees from using cars. Make them enjoy the ride, for free of course.

I agree, except I'd make it a requirement for anyone in management except the front line — and for that level, encourage it with some kind of incentive.

I've been here 26 years. It is kind of a shock when you first realize how compact that downtown transit center is.
My complaint with the suggestion just that that advice _only_ applies if you're downtown, _not_ stuck in a tunnel (as many people were), and going somewhere actually also downtown.
