the internet is having so much fun at least

-
might leave my PC on overnight and see if I unlock this achievement
-
lol, the download stopped and I'm in a login queue now
-
After 4 hours I’m still not past the login queue (with the power of Azure) but I am enjoying all the images people are posting online.

Please wait a few what
Put some more hamsters in the wheel Microsoft

I paid €285 for the collectors edition and all I got are the online streams of a loading screen and broken gameplay. 🫡 they didn’t even bother to post the collectors edition yet.
Admittedly I’m old enjoy that this shit is just hilarious. Feel bad for the devs obviously too, somebody is going to have the task of making this a soothing all green PowerPoint for Satya Nadella.

Well I checked back in the MS Flight Simulator 2024 Reddit, there’s zero critic reviews still as they haven’t been able to get the game to work, and the community content is as you’d expect.
MS put out a statement on launch day saying they’d fixed the issues 🤨

My fave video clip somebody posted so far.. the power of the cloud.
-
@[email protected] I love the new Minecraft lighting system!!
-
@[email protected] also, to be fair, the all-pink man holding a sign that says “ERROR” and giving a thumbs up to an empty husk of a pilot feels like a remarkably accurate summary of modern commercial flight

Adjusting the speed brake.

Adjusting the display brightness

Leaked presentation to Microsoft CEO about the launch of MSFS 2024

For anybody wondering, in MS Flight Simulator 2020, you’d stream some of the world imagery - but there was a full offline copy of Earth and airports in the install, and you’d download all airplanes and airports on first start. The game was playable offline.
With MSFS 2024 they moved the client to be ‘thin’, where every plane, airport etc is streamed in real time.
It doesn’t work. In the UK the Akamai cache is fine, but relies on Azure Front Door hosted backend - which usually times out.
